1.) How to measure your monitor:
    How do you I measure my monitor for a Photodon hood?
    All measurements are outside of monitor dimensions. The top outside dimension corner to corner being the most important.

    How to Measure:
    These measurements are required for the hood support bar that we will cut to fit your hood. Also to ensure that the sides of the hood will be the proper length or you may chose to modify them when ordering your hood.
  • To order your hood - Decide on a color/type "Simulated Black Leather " or "Ivory Vinyl" from the color chart.
  • Measure the OUTSIDE TOP dimension ( A ) of your monitor. Top left outside corner to top right outside corner. You will need this measurement during checkout to specify the length for us to cut the support bar.
  • Measure the OUTSIDE Top to Bottom ( B ) dimension of your monitor, top outside corner of the monitor down to the lower outside corner. You will need this measurement during checkout especially if you select to modify the side length of one of our standard hoods.
  • With the sizes from steps 2 & 3, select the best size fit from the chart below.


2.) How is my hood packaged:
    How do you ship the hood(s)?
    The hood is hinged at the corners so that it folds flat for shipping.
    Some of our smaller hoods can ship via USPS Priority Mail. Larger hoods and multiple hoods will almost always ship FedEx Ground (USA) or USPS Global Priority Mail (Outside US). The hoods are shrink wrapped and have cardboard pieces that protect the edges while in transit. Expedited shipping is available for most hood orders.


3.) Custom Hoods:
    Will your hood fit my Apple Cinema Monitor?
    We have many pre-built hoods that fit a few different Apple Cinemas. At the time of purchase, there are a few options to customize/modify your pre built hood. If the options available do not meet your needs, feel free to contact us and we'll build to suite.

    If you own an older style hood, (plastic frame with rounded corners) then we would customize a hood for you. We use a combination of small elastic straps and Velcro to make this design work.

    I work in an office that uses dual-screen (flat screen) workstations. Is there a hood that could cover both monitors at once? We have a hood design for side by side monitors! We call it the "Dual Monitor Hood". The design requires the monitors to pretty much be parallel as they mate in the middle. The turn around fpr this item is very quick.

    Does this company make hoods that go on a desk that has a monitor that sits under a desk and faces up, if so how much are they?
    Yes. This is a custom hood.


4.) How are the hoods "adjustable" & which should I order:
    How are the hoods adjustable?
    There are two boards that overlay on the top and is held together with clips in the back and a custom cut support bar that you will slide over the front of the hood once it has been adjusted to the monitor.

    I have a monitor with an outer dimension of 17 1/2" inches wide. Is your small standard hood adjustable to fit any size monitor between 14 and 19 inches? Yes, the standard hoods are all adjustable. Please check the Chart for complete dimension information.

    Will the monitor hood work on a flat panel display?
    The Photodon monitor hood is relatively light, just over one pound, and the hook and loop mounting system will adapt to and support the hood equally well on a flat panel display. Minimum mounting edge is one inch, the width of the hook and loop.


6.) What is a "calibration door":
    What is the calibration door option?
    The calibration door allows you to calibrate your monitor without removing the hood from the monitor. The opening measures 3 x 2". Look for this option at time of purchase.


7.) Other:
    What is durable high-density board?
    This is known in the industry as chipboard, but is closer to what is commonly known as a mat-board but with a layer of plastic or vinyl on the outside surfaces for durability.

    On the simulated black leather hood, are both sides black(inside & outside)?
    Yes, the hood does have the black on both sides on the outside it is glossy and the inside it is flat, non reflective.
