| The Monitor Glare Reduction Hood
Don
Package arrived safely today. The hood is superb, really well constructed, with in-depth instructions. It works perfectly on my Mitsubishi 2070SB.
I couldn't ask for better, and far below some prices I have seen quoted for hoods.
Best regards Mick

Questions and Answers:
- How do you I measure my monitor for a Photodon hood?
All measurements are outside of monitor dimensions. The top outside dimension corner to corner being the most important.
- How do you ship your orders?
FedEx ground is our regular ship method. This provides tracking for you and us. You have expedited shipping options at check-out.
- Will your hood fit my Apple Cinema Monitor?
Yes and No. If you own one of the new brushed aluminum Apple Cinema Monitors with square corners, Yes our regular hoods will attach. The small hood will fit the 20 and 23" monitors, the 30" monitor requires a large hood with 18" sides. If you want access to the buttons on the right edge (bottom) make sure to pay the extra to have the side modified. There is an place on step 2 of checkout to let us know what monitor you need your hood to fit. We have the necessary dimensions to make the modification to all the Apple Cinema monitors.
If you own an older style hood, plastic frame with rounded corners then we would need to customize one of our regular hood to make it work. We use a combination of small elastic straps and Velcro to make this design work.
- What is the calibration door option?
The calibration door allows you to calibrate your monitor without removing the hood from the monitor. The opening measures 3 x 2". Look for this option at checkout.

- I have a multi scan Sony G520 Trinitron 21" monitor which measures A=19.5" & B=16.5". Which hood should I order? Thanks.
You would need the medium size hood for your Sony, they are adjustable from 18 to 23 inches. You have the choice of Ivory Vinyl #115 or simulated black leather #112.
- I work in an office that uses dual-screen (flatscreen) workstations. The only light we have is from dim lights in the ceiling but we still have a problem with glare: we cannot turn these lights off because we obviously need them to move around and read associated documents. We have tried various solutions but we have ruled out screen filters because we work with photo imagery and need perfect contrast etc and desk lamps require more power sources than we have available. Hoods have also been considered but as we work with 2 screens a hood over one would block out the other. Have you got any suggestions as to how we might solve this?
We have a hood design for side by side monitors! The design requires the monitors to pretty much be parallel as they mate in the middle. To view the photo: Click here
- I am sitting here in front of my monitor (Viewsonic E90f) after measuring the dimensions I would need - Top Front width is 17 7/8" and, Front Up & Down (vertical) dimension is 15 3/4". Can you tell me how deep the hood is and how much of that depth is attached to the monitor and how much sticks out toward the viewer?
From the dimensions given, a medium size hood in simulated black leather will fit your monitor, this hood has a total depth of 11 inches. The minimum attachment would be the width of the Velcro strips 1" (typical flat panel installation). On a CRT a normal installation would be closer to 2 inches on most monitors. The hood total depth for a small hood is 9.25"

- I have a Dell latitude notebook and was wondering whether your monitor hood would fit on that or whether you have special solutions for notebooks. I want to be able to work outside with my laptop, will the hood provide sufficient antiglare for that?
No, at this time we do not have a hood adaptable for laptop / notebooks, these products are available from other sources.
- How are the hoods adjustable?
The top portion of the hood has slots and is fastened together with four large flanged grommets. You simply pull the sections apart to make the hood larger. You are supplied with the cutouts to fill in the slots once you adjust the hood to size if desired.

- To avoid scratching these delicate surfaces, use a soft brush or cloth to gently brush away any larger dirt particles. Alternately, the larger particles can be blown from the surface with the use of canned air or by blowing through the lips without spitting (the sign of a true professional).
- Use a soft, clean lint free cloth or micro fiber cloth to clean the surface. If using a liquid, spray a small amount of the cleaner onto the cloth. Spraying directly onto a screen or lens is not good in that the excess moisture could seep into the edge of the lens or screen causing problems. A small amount of moisture can ruin a lens and cannot be good for other types of equipment, so avoid excessive amount of liquid cleaners.
Also avoid using kleenex, paper towels, sponges or other coarse shop towels, as these materials may contain abrasives that can scratch plastic, acrylic and poly-carbonate surfaces.
- Work from the center toward the edges of the lens or screen, wipe in a circular motion and only in one direction. Wipe gently and Do not over work or apply excessive pressure to avoid damaging the surface or surface coatings.
We have both LCD screen / Lens cleaner and Microfiber cloths available on this site.
- What is durable high-density board?
This is known in the industry as chipboard, but is closer to what is commonly known as a mat-board but with a layer of plastic or vinyl on the outside surfaces for durability.
- I would love to put a hood on my iMac. Do I order a brand specific hood or do I order based on dimensions only?
Based on dimensions is the correct answer. We have not had a hood returned because it could not be mounted on a monitor. The hook and loop mounting system is very flexible and the hood has some give.
- Will the monitor hood work on a flat panel display?
The Photodon monitor hood is relatively light, just over one pound, and the hook and loop mounting system will adapt to and support the hood equally well on a flat panel display. Minimum mounting edge is one inch, the width of the hook and loop.
- I am forbidden to order over the Internet so can you send me an order form so that I can fax it back with my credit card details?
Please order by phone at: 1-847-377-1185 or use our Fax Form.
