FAQ Screen Cleaning Tips and Ideas
Don't take a chance with your expensive LCD screens, lenses or other delicate surfaces

Do I have to turn my computer or TV off to clean it?
We recommend that you clean the screen display turned off and cool. The black background of an turned of screen gives you a better view of the screen surface. Allowing the display to cool will lessen the risk of creating surface streaking.
Is it okay to use Windex cleaning solution on the LCD protective film to maintain a clean surface?
We do not recommend the use of Windex product on computer screens or our LCD films. Windex and similar products will shorten the life of the material that computer screens are made of plus they have unknown effects on antiglare coatings. Windex which is made for glass will often leave streaks on a TV or computer screen. We offer several good cleaners on our web site. What I would recommend is the Photodon Ultra and the Optix, both are available separately or in kits with microfiber cloths.
How do I clean ink from a screen surface with a microfiber cloth?
One method, which has worked well for some persons, is to saturate a clean cloth with isopropyl rubbing alcohol. With gentle wiping, this normally will remove most inks from a screen.
I scratched (fairly deep gouge) the viewing screen on my digital
camera. I've tried rubbing it out with toothpaste (not a great success). Any ideas?
Doug I do not have a product for screen scratch removal, but took this idea from a PDA forum. http://www.palmblvd.com/boards/Palm-m105/messages/1214.html
Do you ship to the U.K.?
Due to the recent postal changes and customs documentation involved we recently stopped offering overseas orders.
To : The Photodon Team:
I just received your Photodon's Ultra (HDTV) Plasma-LCD Screen Cleaner.
I followed the instructions to the "T" immediately upon opening the package and quite honestly . . .I thought that I had just witnessed a "mini-miracle".
Just prior to using your marvelous product . . .I had made the mistake of using Windex to clean /dust the screen on my brand new 50 Inch Plasma High Definition Screen . I was devastated when very large , sweeping gray cloud like streaks/smudges appeared across the entire screen after using the Windex.
I researched what I could do to correct the problem . . .and found many web sites that offered information that stated that this type of occurrence was almost if not impossible to correct.
As I was about to give up . . .and resign myself to living with the ugly visitors to my beloved High Definition Screen . . .I found your web site . . .and sent an e mail and also called and left a message on your voice mail this past week end.
Much to Photodon's credit . . .a terrific young lady named Lisa Marie called me and assured me that you had a product that would take care of my problem. She was very courteous , patient and reassuring that your product would work . . .AND SO IT DID . . .
It sure is great . . .when a promise of performance is made . . .that a full 100 Percent of the assurance occurs.
You should be proud of your entire operation . . .from the web site , the product , the timely shipping and the competent professional Lisa Marie. . .Cheers for all of you . . .

The simplest and most popular way to remove a scratch is this: collect
about one teaspoon of cigarette ash and mix it with the simplest toothpaste
available (NOT, I repeat, NOT an abrasive toothpaste... the cheapest,
simplest, will do). About 1/2 teaspoon of toothpaste, to be more precise.
Mix it until you get a gray, uniform substance; then, using a mascara remover
cotton pad, wipe the scratch place in uniform, continuous circles. BEWARE:
not to heat the screen due to friction.
This method is one we photographers use to clean and remove scratches from
old, non-treated lenses; but I'd strongly advise you to protect the rest of
the PDA somehow.
Of course, use at your own risk and don't press too hard, you might get
the touch-screen destroyed.
Another idea is to use a plastic restore system called Janvil they have a
three step process for scratch removal. I think it would be www.janvil.com.
