I was at Fry's looking for a netbook. They only had two models on display that didn't have that irritating high-gloss screen - one was the HP 110 and I don't remember what the other was. Turns out they didn't have any 110s to sell, but the salesman told me they had a 210 - better specs, same price. I told him I didn't want it if it had the high-gloss screen, and he told me it didn't - that it has the same screen as the 110. I got home and found out that he was wrong. Rather than take the netbook back and suffer the restocking fee, I searched online for anti-glare film. I've used screen protectors on phones for years, so this was nothing new for me. I found a number of reviews for various products, and each one that I was just about to order, I found another review that was not so kind. Then I found this one. From the reviews I read, not only was this screen protector/antiglare filter going to do a good job, but it was the cheapest I found as well. I ordered it, and I think I had it within 2 or 3 days. I sized it up with my netbook, and found that I would have to cut off the square corners to fit the rounded corners of my netbook, as well as cutting holes for the webcam and mic. Well, I didn't do such a good job with cutting the holes, but it's adequate. That is my fault, though it would be nice if the filter would come precut. This stuff is thick, so not the easiest to cut. What I will do when I get around to it is purchase another one, and this time just use a hole punch for the webcam and mic. There is one spot where it doesn't adhere well, up in a corner near one of the rubber bumpers at the top edge of the screen. I attribute that to my possibly bending it too much while cutting, though, because the rest of it doesn't have any problem. The adhesive is not a high-strength adhesive, so while it holds to the screen very well, it is not so sticky that it will be difficult to remove when I want to replace it. This is a very good thing in my opinion. I would not need this product if it weren't for laptop manufacturers deciding for me that I wanted to buy a high-gloss screen. Frankly, I didn't buy a laptop so I could look at myself or the scenery behind me - I could have purchased a mirror much cheaper. But since laptop manufacturers think glossy screens are better, I'm glad I found this site. I have another new laptop that could use it, but the problem is that laptop is a touchscreen, and this site says the film is too thick for touchscreen use. I'll have to find something else for that one. I do recommend this product for people like me, who didn't purchase a laptop to be a high-priced mirror.
