Increasingly, companies find it essential that images, data, and other information be protected from visual hacking.
Leadership teams are making the decision to provide their employees with computer privacy screens to decrease the risk of private and/or sensitive information getting within sight of unauthorized personnel or clients.
These are just a few of the types of industries where privacy matters most:
- Healthcare
- IT/Security
- Financial
- Education
- Government
- Human Resources
- Insurance
- Point of Sales
Visual hacking can happen anywhere in the world and happens quickly. Open office spaces are especially vulnerable to data security breaches. This was the case with one of Photodon's recent customers, and we were able to help.
Case Study: Can a privacy screen be made to fit a curved monitor?
One of our clients — *a large and well-known non-profit organization in the USA – approached Photodon with a problem to solve: They had recently purchased over 350 Dell UltraSharp U3415W 34-inch monitors for their office, which had an open office environment. The monitors were curved, making it difficult to find a computer privacy screen that would work for these types of monitors.
We asked the company to provide us with dimensions of the monitor, and we sent them a sample of the privacy screen to ensure it fit properly.
Once the IT staff gave Photodon the thumbs up, we proceeded to fill the company's order. They received discounts because they purchased multiple computer monitor privacy screens that we bulk packaged.
Although this organization intended on keeping the computer privacy screens installed permanently, we let them know that the privacy screens could be taken on and off several times should they desire to do so. The adhesive material on the underside of the filter would never cause damage to their monitors.
But how does a computer privacy screen work?
Adhesive and non-adhesive privacy screens use the same material — polyester film, with a UV hard coat. Tiny louvers are embedded within the material. The louvers act as a light-blocking mechanism, which is why images and text cannot be seen on a digital screen that is viewed from angles greater than 45 degrees.
This video demonstrates how a privacy screen works on a 34-inch curved monitor screen.
