Here at Photodon.com, we offer screen protectors for hundreds of devices, with the choice of several different film types. On the main screen protector page, we suggest reasons as to why it's a good idea to use a screen protector; however, most people have absolutely no idea why screen protectors are so great.
So let me tell you why it is such a good idea to protect your screen:
Often times you hear about how wonderful a microfiber cloth is, but seldom do you know exactly what to use it on or for.
You'll find that the biggest key factor when choosing a cloth is the "lint" level of the material. Cloths that are tightly woven or looped woven are normally a low-lint cloth. These are ideal for screen cleaning, or delicate surface cleaning. Continue reading →
When combined, (microfiber and nylon), result in a microfiber cloth with the advantages of both synthetics. Too much nylon will result in a cloth that will scratch fine or delicate surfaces, like coated optics or fine wood or paint finishes. With too little nylon, the cloth will not last or clean rough surfaces without rapid deterioration. It is this perfect combination of microfiber and nylon that give these cleaning cloths their special properties.
Photodon Ultra is possibly one of the safest surface cleaner solutions available on the market today. This "green" screen cleaner is safe for screens with anti-glare/anti-reflection coatings such as those found on today's computer monitors, HDTVs, and plasma screens.
Streaking is caused by not having enough cleaning solution on the screen to pick up the dirt that is on the screen. In this case, the lack of enough solution is creating a paste or mud, and the cloth is spreading this paste leaving streaks. So the proper amount of solution is important and will vary depending on the amount of surface dirt.
The most recommended method of cleaning your screen is to spray the solution onto the cloth, first making the cloth quite damp, then wiping the screen with the damp cloth. This eliminates the possibility of damaging the screen from solution running down the screen and into the frame area. Pros: it is a safer method. Cons: you use more solution and less solution actually goes to work on the screen as it is absorbed into the cloth.
It is almost impossible to get every screen manufacturer to agree on a cleaning method. Here we offer guidelines to help you avoid the greatest mistakes and hopefully allow you to clean your screen without fear of ruining its appearance or function.
